The first scale that we should know is the major scale, it is generated with a tone structure of: TT m TTT my and it handles the following chords: + - - + + - dis. The second scale is the minor one, it is built with the following organization of tones and half tones T m TT m TT and it handles the following chords: - dis + - - + + The third scale is the major pentatonic, you can see this as a variation of the minor scale, since it is this one, but without the fourth and seventh degrees, this is perhaps the simplest way to study this scale. The fourth scale is the minor pentatonic, this scale can be seen as a variation of the minor scale, only we remove the second and sixth degrees. Finally, the Blues scale, this is a variation of the minor pentatonic scale, only it adds a chromatic step between degrees four and five. These five scales are the basic language that every guitarist should master, if possible it is suggested to study them by fingering and on the same string to make it easier to learn their notes.
