We present a new 4x4 off-road comparison test to the limit with the Dacia Duster dCi 4x4 Prestige manual facing a Suzuki Jimny Mode3. On the one hand we have the already known Suzuki Jimny, a pure and hard off-roader with ingredients such as the chassis of side members and cross members, the reduction gear and the double rigid axle front and rear. It is a car with all the classic elements of the 4x4 without concessions, which leaves us with a practically two-seater toy and designed exclusively for the field but far from being a practical car. For its part, the Dacia Duster has a lower price than the Suzuki Jimny even in its top-of-the-range diesel version with all-wheel drive, the 1.5 dCi 4x4 in Prestige finish, also offering a spacious interior with 5 doors and a good trunk that configures a much more sensible car, without giving up outstanding off-road dimensions and excellent traction capacity. The Duster does not have a reduction gear, but it does have a very short first gear and a turbodiesel engine with greater torque at low revs. It does not have rigid axles or a frame with long beams, but it does boast good construction solidity. Its off-road capabilities will be put to the limit in successive tests that are increasingly more complicated, to find out exactly how far it can go. This comparison was made on the Autorrescate 4x4 off-road circuit in Los Ángeles de San Rafael, which has different areas of varying difficulty and allows us to experiment with the cars in a totally safe and environmentally friendly way and in compliance with the law. Both cars are standard, with tyres and pressures provided by the manufacturer, so this would be the car that would leave the dealership if you bought either of them. Presented by: David G.
