Awashima Island is located in the Seto Inland Sea, northwest of Takuma, Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture. I set up my fishing spot on the sandy beach that appears as the tide goes in and out, and watch the float drifting in the waves. My target is the black porgy, a majestic fish clad in a smoked silver armor. It is a target that is popularly known as chinu and offers a great fishing experience. Facing the chinu is Yamaguchi Misaki, a young rock fisherman based in Okayama. This is her first time fishing from the beach... it is a gentle fishing experience, different from the rough rocks. Feeling the hint of autumn in the sea breeze blowing across the shore, I play with the finest chinu on this remote Seto Inland Sea island.
