Together we will get to know the community of Alto do Rosário, in the municipality of Dom Basílio. With around 400 inhabitants, it is a true hidden treasure, known for its rich culture, religiosity, faith and its crystal clear waterfalls. During my visit, I explored the local history, which began with bandeirantes searching for gold, but who found a different treasure: the abundance of water. This discovery led to the development of sugar cane cultivation and the production of rapadura. Another local highlight is the Church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário, a landmark built after signs interpreted as divine. I had the pleasure of talking to Dona Isabel Caires, a local resident who is passionate about Alto do Rosário. She shared her life experiences and highlighted the importance of faith and unity in the community. My journey continued with a trail to spectacular waterfalls, where I was able to admire the natural beauty of the region. I also took part in the Reisado tradition, a northeastern celebration rich in culture and faith, preserved by local musicians and singers, such as Seu Joaquim, who shared his life story and love for tradition. To end my visit, I was welcomed by Dona Elcy at her home, where I tried a delicious free-range chicken prepared with love and fresh ingredients. This experience celebrated local hospitality and cuisine in an unforgettable way.
