There are around 5.5 million foreigners living in Spain. According to official sources, more than a third of them come from Latin American countries. However, the real figure is difficult to calculate, since Spain is the sixth country in the European Union with the most illegal immigrants. Now, with a reform of the Immigration Law approved by the Spanish government, thousands of migrants could benefit from a more flexible process for obtaining residence or work permits.
