Waldhof Mannheim picked up a point against Preußen Münster in Marco Antwerpen's first coaching debut - thanks to a mega-hammer from Marcel Seegert in the closing stages. Antwerpen had only taken over from Rüdiger Rehm during the week. For his Waldhof debut, he said goodbye to the back four and instead sent a back three with Laurent Jans and Jonas Carls as wing players onto the field. Captain Marcel Seegert and Luca Bolay sat on the bench for the time being. In Mannheim, the former FCK coach Antwerpen met his former FCK striker Terrence Boyd. And he scored with his first move. Carls hit the long ball over the advancing Münster players to Boyd. The latter headed the ball in front of him and then benefited from Preußen keeper Maximilian Schulze Niehues running around his own defender Simon Scherder. Boyd only had to push the ball into the empty goal (12th). The lead only lasted eleven minutes, however, as Niko Koulis was able to score to make it 1-1. Waldhof keeper Lucien Hawryluk was able to parry Thorben Deters' shot. The 23-year-old had no chance against Koulis' follow-up shot. The score was 1-1 at half-time. Mannheim increased the pressure in the second half. And Terrence Boyd was keen to score his second brace in a Mannheim shirt. However, he missed a few opportunities - his direct shot whizzed over the goal (50th minute), and his header flew straight at goalkeeper Schulze Niehues (55th minute). However, Mannheim could not maintain the pressure any longer and had to watch as Münster got better and better from the 60th minute onwards. The newly formed defence could not prevent Shaibou Oubeyapwa from entering the Mannheim penalty area on the left. His shot hit the crossbar, but Münster retained possession of the ball. Marc Lorenz took advantage of the confusion in the Mannheim defense to cross to Gerrit Wegkamp, who headed the ball so precisely into the far corner that Hawryluk stretched in vain (79th minute). But Mannheim didn't have to chase the deficit for long. Substitute captain Marcel Seegert took responsibility. The 29-year-old received the ball about 35 meters from the goal and put all his pent-up frustration into this one shot - and it flew, unstoppable for Schulze Niehues, into the corner to make it 2:2 (85th minute). +++ 3rd League +++ Pure football.
