In Wonju, Gangwon-do, Chiaksan Mountain. There is a mountain lodge built by Min In-jun over four years, reminiscing about the earthen house he lived in as a child. He is still busy with the house renovation as he loves it so much. He and his junior Park Byeong-cheol, who happened to be visiting his house, climbed up to the dizzying mountain lodge roof, wrapping kudzu vines and pruning pine trees. Now, In-jun has the air of a natural person, and his junior Byeong-cheol envied his senior’s appearance all the time. Is he taking the natural person’s preliminary exam? He heads to the frozen valley with a hammer to catch a willow trout, and he takes three hours to make lacquer soup with lacquer trees cut down from the mountain behind him for his first meal. For dessert, he roasts coffee in a cauldron and pounds it in a mortar. “I feel like I’ve become a sophisticated man.” So what if it’s inconvenient? I like being free as I please.
