<Anchor> Let's take a look at the situation of the wildfires in LA, USA, which have been raging for five days. The winds have died down a bit, but the large fires are not being extinguished, so the extinguishment rate is less than 10%. There are many places where the entire street has been reduced to ashes. Special correspondent Kim Yong-tae covered the scene. <Reporter> The huge flames are spreading across the entire ridge. Even the vehicles that were deployed to fight the fire are engulfed in flames. Even though helicopters are pouring water, the fire's momentum is not slowing down. [Everything that is left behind is engulfed in flames.] Satellite photos before and after the wildfire show the peaceful city becoming a pit of fire and then ashes again. We visited the affluent coastal town of Palisades, which suffered the most damage. All the restaurants and stores were burned to the ground. Vehicles with only skeletons left are abandoned here and there, and power lines are down, leaving only transformers scattered. This is where a large building used to stand. But the building has disappeared without a trace, and the floor is filled with glass shards. As you can see, white smoke continues to rise between the piles of rubble from the collapsed building. Now, only fire trucks and police cars are passing by on the street that was once crowded with residents and tourists. [Local firefighter: There used to be a few restaurants here, and many stores selling things like clothing, but now they are all memories.] This is the Palisades branch of Bank of America, a major US bank. The building is completely in ruins, and the ATM has melted. The number pad is missing like this. I went to Hollywood, the symbol of Los Angeles. At one point, an evacuation order was issued here, and photo spots where you can see the Hollywood sign are still off-limits. A quarter of the area of Seoul has burned down, and the wind has died down somewhat, but the large Palisades and Eaton wildfires are less than 10% contained. [Jennifer Park/Korean resident in Eaton: It came down like a volcano erupted, but the fire and wind were several times more severe, so I thought, 'We have to get out now.'] There are worrying predictions that if the search for missing people begins in earnest, the death toll, currently at 11, will increase and the economic impact will exceed 88 trillion won.
