In this podcast, we talked about a topic that, unfortunately, is always relevant - car accidents. The main point was about the incentives of people who do not follow the rules of the road. That is, about how car accidents on the roads and the incentives of drivers are connected. Most drivers know the rules of the road well, but nevertheless systematically violate them. So the problem is not that drivers get a driver's license without knowing how to drive, but that they knowingly violate the rules. The problem is not in the lack of information, but in the lack of practice. A simple example: there is no driver who does not know how to run a red light, let pedestrians pass, or drive at a speed of 120 km/h in the city. But why are there so many such violations, and thousands of our compatriots are dying as a result of them. How can these tragedies be reduced? We exchanged views on this podcast.
