Welcome to a five-day bikepacking adventure in the great landscapes of Kuusamo, Posio and Hossa. In total, the 370 km route took us to the northern sandy beaches of gravel road paradise. At the same time, we completed Finland's first bikepacking instructor training. Cycling has always been close to my heart. I've been involved in some sub-sports of cycling, from bmx scrambling to fillaripolo, but cycling has always been strongly involved. It all goes back to the patrol days, when there were hardly any other options for going on your own trips. This is probably also why there is always a somewhat adventurous feeling of freedom on the back of a fillar, and longer bikepacking bicycle hikes have taken me to the limit. This is why I applied to Finland's first bikepacking instructor training! I wanted to develop my own skills and learn from conkers who have traveled the world, so that I could tour further myself and maybe also take others along. The training was organized by my old tour guide student and the course was taught by Finland's best bikepacking route planner Taneli Roininen, so I knew that the course would certainly be educational. The practical part of the training was organized in Kuusamo and Koillisma at the very beginning of October. The timing was purposely challenging so that we would learn how to manage in autumn rain and a bit of frost on the same trip. Taneli had planned an absolutely amazing route for us, along which we got to experience perhaps the clearest waters I've ever seen, wonderful sandy beaches and great rides. The campsites were also planned last. I also finally got to get to know the Kylmlauoma camping area, which I've been planning for a long time. Thanks to everyone who participated! I hope we will meet many more times on the paths and gravel roads. Special thanks to Tanel and Tero Niemelä for guiding us! Your teachings will go a long way.
