Istanbul was occupied during his reign. After the Mondros Armistice, the Allied Powers were forced to sign the Sevres Treaty. Indeed, Mustafa Kemal Pasha and his comrades, who entered the National Struggle, ended the sultanate on November 1, 1922, after saving Anatolia from enemy occupation. In this way, the 623-year-old Ottoman Empire was lost to history.
