In view of the current AI development and the immense - even realistic - flood of images, you may well consider whether it makes sense to draw and paint realistically at all. But if this form of expression fascinates you, you want to start with it or have started but are still struggling with it, I have 3 points for you here, which briefly address realistic drawing and shed more light on the underestimated areas. But not from the technical side, but rather from the mindset and personal living conditions. Difference: Realism and Naturalism I talk about realism in the video, but what I mean is naturalism. Unfortunately I don't go into this in the video, so here is a subsequent clarification. Instead of academic terms, I deliberately use colloquial terms here. We usually say: Wow, that's drawn/painted realistically! - when you have perhaps implemented a photo or your own fictional idea according to our reality. But in proper academic terms, realism is the depiction of real events or things (e.g. farmers in the field or people in the park). The implementation can, however, be totally unrealistic (e.g. pointillism or cubism). So the content is realistic, not the implementation. Naturalism, on the other hand, is the implementation of all kinds of things, which are always drawn/painted realistically (like a normal photograph, for example). So it could be space robots or mermaids on Mars, but when implemented they are realistic, like the retro futuristic figures by Hajime Sorayama. 0:47 A bold thesis! 1:50 1.
