The Semmering Base Tunnel is a railway tunnel that, once completed, will make it possible to travel by train from Vienna to Klagenfurt in 2 hours 40 minutes. The plan to dig a tunnel through the mountains near Semmering and thus relieve the pressure on the historic Semmering railway had been around for a long time - construction of the base tunnel finally began in 2012. In this video, I'll show you how the two tunnel tubes are made and what special features there are in the project. Have fun!
