The Vigiljoch cable car was built in 1912. The system had over 30 supports at the time and the journey took almost 45 minutes. The cable car was considered a pioneering work and was built according to plans by the Zurich mountain railway builder Emil Strub and the Viennese Walter Conrad. The work was carried out by the Milan company Ceretti & Tanfani. The current cable car was built in 1955. The new cable car only has 4 concrete supports. In 2008 the cabins were replaced by new ones. The 2.2 km long cable car overcomes 1157.5 km of slopes.
