On May 16 this year, the central celebrations of the Border Guard Day took place in Krosno Odrzańskie with the participation of the Minister of Internal Affairs Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz and the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Internal Affairs Piotr Stachańczyk. The celebrations began at 10:00 a.m. with a Holy Mass for the officers and employees of the Border Guard in the parish church of St. Jadwiga of Silesia in Krosno Odrzańskie, celebrated by the Field Bishop of the Polish Army Józef Guzdek. At 12:00 p.m., a ceremonial roll call began on the premises of the Nadodrzański Border Guard Branch, during which 82 Border Guard officers received promotions to the first officer rank. During the ceremony, promotions, distinctions and decorations were also presented. The Gold Medal for Merit for the Border Guard was awarded to: Dr. hab. Andrzej Krzysztof Kunert - Secretary of the Council for the Protection of Memory of Combat and Martyrdom, Detlef Fritzsch - President of the Pirna Directorate of the German Federal Police, Lieutenant General Marek Tomaszycki - Operational Commander of the Branches of the Armed Forces, Brig. Gen. SG Marek Borkowski - Deputy Commander in Chief of the SG, Col. SG Andrzej Rytwiński - Commander of the Podlasie OSG, Col. SG Andrzej Kamiński - Commander of the Nadodrzański OSG. The Silver Medal of Merit for the Border Guard was presented to Teresa Barbara Baranowska - Director of the Office in the Council for the Protection of Memory of Combat and Martyrdom. The Gold Medal of Merit for the National Defence was awarded to Col. SK Krzysztof Gawęda - Director of the Information Protection Office of the KGSG. The Silver Medal of Merit for the National Defence was awarded to Col. SG Grzegorz Skorupski - Commander of the Central Training Centre of the SG. Medals for Long Service and Border Guard Badges were also awarded. The ceremony was graced by a parade drill show performed by the Border Guard Representative Company with the participation of the Border Guard Representative Orchestra.
