The Avatamsaka Sutra is the greatest Buddhist scripture. It is a scripture that describes the state of enlightenment and the dharma assembly where the Buddha preached the truth of enlightenment after he achieved great enlightenment. There are three types: 60-volume, 80-volume, and 40-volume. The Avatamsaka Sutra’s Abridged Version is a verse that was abbreviated by Yongju Bodhisattva, selecting only the essential parts of the 80-volume Avatamsaka Sutra translated by Silchananta among these three types of Avatamsaka Sutra. The total number of Chinese characters in the 80-volume version is 587,261, but since it is by no means easy to read the entire Avatamsaka Sutra, it is said that the content was compressed into 756 characters and 108 lines to create the Abridged Version. It is said that if you read and study this yakchan-ge, you will gradually be able to understand the contents of the Avatamsaka Sutra, and eventually you will be able to have the same effect as seeing the entire sutra at a glance. Therefore, people have widely recited and copied this yakchan-ge from ancient times while praying and practicing.
