In 1976, an association was formed with its headquarters in Blumberg. On May 21, 1977, a heritage railway was set up on the line, but it only runs on the middle section between Weizen and Zollhaus-Blumberg. This proved to be extremely successful from the start and even covered its costs. This saved the line from complete disrepair. In 1988, the line was given the status of a technical monument of national importance. Extensive renovation work on the tunnels and bridges in the years that followed ensured its continued existence at the beginning of the 21st century. In 1991, the Südwest-Fernsehen series Eisenbahn-Romantik reported on the Wutach Valley Railway in its first episode. During filming at Easter 1987, the steam locomotive 38 1772 derailed at the lower entry switch at Epfenhofen station. The Wutachtalbahn has been used as a film set on several occasions, for example in Henry the Sawyer, The Transport, Viehjud Levi and Brass Target (German title: Hidden Target). EUROVAPOR was previously responsible for operations, but its subsidiary Wutachtalbahn (WTB) e. V., founded in 1997, took over operations in the same year. EUROVAPOR decided on this spin-off for reasons of flexibility. Around the turn of the millennium, the line's rolling stock was also renovated and additional passenger cars were purchased. After the state of Baden-Württemberg had already provided 457,000 euros in tourism funds between 2008 and 2010, the state's economic committee released a further 162,500 euros from the tourism infrastructure program in October 2010. The money is intended to enable the renovation of the tracks in 2011. This file is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
