The long-running renovation work on the Shin-Yamaguchi Station conventional line entrance has now been completed, and the new station building has been completed, marking the first day of operation for the 2018 SL Yamaguchi. Unlike the usual C571, the first to run was the D51200, which was revived last year. The power of the D51200's massive body and its draft sound, which is similar to that of a jet plane, made it seem like a new attraction had arrived on the Yamaguchi Line. The 2018 SL Yamaguchi will feature three types of steam locomotives: the D51, C57, and C56. The C56160 is scheduled to make its farewell run on the Yamaguchi Line in May.
