The Middle Ages "trend" continued unabated in 2014. It's not just Goths who love traveling back in time; the number of visitors to many events suggests that the fascination with the past has also captivated the rest of the population. There were around 1,500 events across Germany last year, but most of them are not historically accurate. Medieval markets or fantasy spectacles, such as the Spectaculum, have nothing to do with the actual Middle Ages and are instead elaborately staged festivals that offer entertainment and diversion.
