Saturday 17 October 2020, Castagno d'Andrea, Casentinesi Forests National Park. I leave around 10 in the morning. After asking for some information at the tourist office, I go to look for the entrance to path no. 18. I take a small asphalt road following the signs for La Macia. I follow path no. 16 even though I should be on 18. Further on I return to the small asphalt road that goes up. I don't find the entrance to 18 and so I go back to take the fork that takes me to path no. 16. We finally start to climb towards the top of Monte Falterona in the middle of the forest wonderfully covered in autumn. The sky is clear and the sun is shining. I find some stretches with puddles and mud. I arrive at Fonte del Borbotto (1200 m). The forest changes from beauty to beauty. The route winds along a small road covered in fallen leaves. The trees are very tall. Now that I'm in it I understand why they call them Sacred Forests. Today I celebrate 3 years since I started running, my first Fantozzian training session dates back to 10/16/2017. The climb becomes very lively, the forest changes face as you get closer to the summit of Falterona. Once you reach the summit (1654 m) I look around a bit, other hikers are resting on the summit meadow and some accompanied dogs are eager to continue the walk. I eat a bar and take the path to the nearby Monte Falco (1658 m.) which I reach in half an hour. Returning towards Falterona I decide to turn onto a path that leads to Capo d'Arno, the source of the river that flows through Florence. I stop for a few minutes to browse near the source and then continue walking, we start to descend. I take path no. 17 which joins 00, towards Monte Acuto. I have already covered 12 km. I reach path no. 00 downhill, I have already lost 200 m of altitude. I reach Monte Acuto after 14 km. For a short stretch I leave the woods and walk through a meadow. I go back into the woods, cross some streams and leave the woods again, 15.8 km covered, I have been walking for 4 hours, I follow path no. 18. I cross a stream after 17 km and continue to descend into the woods towards Castagno d'Andrea. After 20 km I am on a small asphalt road, now on the home straight. After a little more than 5 hours of walking I reach my destination.
