1917 – 2017 HONOUR TO THE FALLEN! One hundred years ago, thousands of soldiers involved in what was later called the Great War died on Mount Pasubio. Many of the fallen belonged to Alpine units from the Aosta Valley, in particular soldiers from the Aosta and Monte Cervino battalions. September 5, 2017 marked the date of the Lora landslide, a natural disaster that killed over 200 Alpine troops, many of whom were from the Aosta Valley, who, with their commander, Colonel Testa Fochi, were stationed along the slopes of that side of Pasubio. Thanks to the work of researchers and enthusiasts, the 4th Altair Helicopter Regiment of Bolzano, a unit of today's Aosta battalion went to the site of the events of 1917 to also remember the fallen of 1916 by placing two testimonies on site.
