During his stay in prison, he conducted his scientific activities, after being released, he defended his doctorate and currently works at the university. Author of dozens of scientific and popular science publications on prison subculture and its changes after 1989, methods of studying prisons, ethics of research in prisons, conducting operational work in penitentiary units. In 2016 he published the book "Killers in Prison", describing ways of adapting to prison isolation of long-term convicts.
