In this episode of #CuentalaHistoria, details of the construction of one of Lima's architectural icons, the building of the newspaper #ElComercio, are narrated. To do so, Gonzalo and his grandfather go back to 1919, the year in which a mob instigated by the then president Augusto B. Leguía attacked and set fire to part of the premises where the El Comercio editorial office was located. In response, Mr. José Antonio Miró Quesada ordered the construction of a new building on the same location, which would be as imposing as a fortress. This year, the El Comercio house celebrates 100 years of its inauguration and we celebrate it by remembering some moments and historical figures who passed through there.
