The Board of Trustees of the Ramón Rubial Foundation/Ramón Rubial Fundazioa, which sat as the Jury for the 17th Edition of the “Ramón Rubial Awards”, has unanimously decided to award the following prizes: Ramón Rubial Award for Solidarity and Cooperation The Jury has deemed the JAMBO CONGO ASSOCIATION worthy of this award for its exceptional help in the Democratic Republic of the Congo region, for its commitment to improving people's living conditions, meeting basic needs such as health, education, housing and work to achieve the empowerment of the population. Ramón Rubial Award for Sport The Jury has deemed Mr. AITOR FRANCESENA worthy of this award for his impeccable sporting career in which he has achieved successes that have transcended the field of sport to become a social example. A reference in the world of surfing, the Jury also praised his dedication, perseverance and sportsmanship. Ramón Rubial Award for Culture The Jury has considered LANDARBASO ABESBATZA worthy of this award for its commitment, perseverance and good work, values that have taken them to the top of the world choral scene. The Jury has also considered that the choir has been able to integrate a diverse repertoire that includes traditional, popular and contemporary music, which allows it to attract different audiences and show the richness of musical culture. Ramón Rubial Award for Business The Jury has considered BETSAIDE worthy of this award for its undeniable contribution to the Basque economic development as a leading company, which is committed to giving added value to its products and casting processes. The Jury has also considered its commitment to job creation, its perseverance and its good work. Ramón Rubial Award for the Promotion of Euskadi in the World The Jury has considered CHILLIDA LEKU worthy of this award for being a reference in the promotion of Basque culture, through the work of the sculptor Eduardo Chillida. The Jury also considered, now that the centenary is being celebrated, that Chillida's work deeply reflects the culture and history of the Basque Country, which strengthens its representation in the world. Ramón Rubial Award for Communication The Jury considered Ms. SILVIA INTXAURRONDO worthy of this award for her extensive professional career in the world of communication, as well as for her invaluable contribution to society through her informative work. It also took into account her professional honesty and her commitment to truthful and free information. Ramón Rubial Award for Sustainability and the Defense of the Environment The Jury considered AZTI worthy of this award for its contribution to marine sustainability and its dedication to providing quality education in the marine and coastal environment. The Jury also valued its great contribution to a healthy, sustainable and integral society and for its great commitment to the great challenges facing humanity. Ramón Rubial Award for the Defense of Democracy and Freedom The jury has considered Mr. SALVADOR ILLA worthy of this award for his exceptional work in the defense of the values of democracy and freedom and for his persistent and constant work in the service of society. The jury has also considered his exemplary contribution to the achievement of a more just society. Ramón Rubial Award for the Defense of Socialist Values The jury has considered Mr. GUILLERMO FERNÁNDEZ VARA worthy of this award for his exceptional work in the defense of socialist values from all the public responsibilities he has assumed. Likewise, the jury has considered that his work at the head of the Government of Extremadura, in search of understanding and progress in society, always applying the values of freedom, democracy, equality and social justice, constitutes a career worthy of this recognition. The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday 14 December at 12 noon at the Gipuzkoa Chamber of Commerce (Avenida de Tolosa, 75, Donostia-San Sebastián).
