177th Anniversary of the Heroic Deed of the Boy Heroes of Chapultepec. Friday, September 13, 2024 President AMLO. In commemorating the 177th Anniversary of the Heroic Deed of the Boy Heroes of Chapultepec, we remember the confrontation against the American invaders and how they gave their lives in defense of our sovereignty and independence on September 13, 1847. At the Altar to the Homeland in the Miguel Hidalgo mayor's office in Mexico City, we took a roll call of Honor to the Heroes and presented swords to six cadets from the Heroic Military College. We laid a wreath and mounted an Honor Guard at the Monument to the Boy Heroes in the company of the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo; Dr. Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller; the Secretary of the Interior, Luisa María Alcalde Luján and the Secretaries of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval González and of the Navy, José Rafael Ojeda Durán. Cadet Javier Enrique Valencia Avendaño gave a speech and the company of cadets of the Heroic Military College executed a rifle salute to honor the memory of the Boy Heroes: Juan de la Barrera, Juan Escutia, Agustín Melgar, Vicente Suárez, Fernando Montes de Oca and Francisco Márquez.
