Yakushiji Temple, a World Heritage Site in Nara. The National Treasure East Pagoda is the only building remaining from Heijo-kyo that was built at the time. However, it has deteriorated and is in danger of collapsing. For this reason, it has been decided to completely dismantle and repair the temple for the first time. Asahi Television Broadcasting Corporation closely covered the dismantling and repair work that began in 2009 for 14 years. However, this was not just a simple dismantling and repair work. For Yakushiji Temple, which had lost many of its temple buildings, the fervent wish of its successive chief priests was to restore all of the temple buildings and establish a system for spreading the teachings of Buddhism anew. Yakushiji Temple was built by Emperor Tenmu in prayer for the recovery of his empress from illness, and also for peace for the people.
