With almost 30,000 beds, a&o Hotels and Hostels is one of the largest of its kind - and attracts a very special clientele. The success story began in 2000 with the first hotel in Berlin. Oliver Winter, only 24 years old at the time, was inspired by backpacker culture on a trip around the world without a big budget - and laid the foundation for a&o. In this episode: Where does the name a&o come from? How was such rapid growth possible? Which new markets are particularly exciting? And how does the company manage to reduce its ecological footprint to just 3 kg CO₂ per overnight stay? The credo of "making things as indestructible as possible" may at first glance seem to contradict design and functionality. But the long-term collaboration with BWM Designers & Architects proves that the two can also be harmoniously combined. Listen in and discover the exciting world of a&o!
