It’s the big departure! After two days of waiting, my bike is finally ready to follow me on this exceptional adventure across Sri Lanka. I leave Negombo for a 138 km stage, towards the majestic Yapahuwa fortress. On the program: a sunny coast, a detour to the Munneshwaram Hindu temple in Chilaw, and isolated roads lined with lush vegetation. On these ochre dirt roads, each pedal stroke reveals wild landscapes and unforgettable encounters. Pedestrians, motorcyclists, van drivers – all share a smile, a word or a moment of life. But the adventure is not without challenges! Between a laborious meal order and unexpected storms, I end my day at the Yapahuwa fortress, climbing its steep stairs in the golden light of dusk.
