The people who remained in Van were defending the city against the Dashnak gangs. 120 heroic children between the ages of 12-17 undertake the task of carrying ammunition to the border. However, heavy snowfall and blizzard showed that this was not easy and only 40 children remained. Later, 22 of these 40 children survived and 18 were martyred.
