About :

I promise you it’s true… I make a list of cars and when I number them… boom!... it turns out I got 12+1. I was going to leave it at 10 but I didn’t want to remove any of these cars because all of them, absolutely all of them, seem interesting to me. And all of them, absolutely all of them, little known… at least in Spain. #cars #japanesecars #classiccars Become a member of this channel to enjoy benefits: / hermetic garage I should say that they are little known in Spain and even, to be more precise, little known in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands. Because you already know, and for those of you who don’t know, I’ll tell you, that the so-called “lucky islands”, the Canary Islands, were so for many reasons, but for me one of them is that when imported cars didn’t enter Spain, they did in the Canary Islands. People always talk about whether Japanese cars are better and more reliable, whether Japanese brands are better or worse technologically and there are arguments to say one thing or another. But what the Japanese brands are, and above all were, compared to the rest of the world, was prolific. Their agility in launching, modifying and updating models was unmatched. While in Europe the average life of a car was around 10 years, in Japan that cycle was less than half that. Let's start now and in alphabetical order. 1. Honda City Turbo II (1982). Watch out! We are looking at the creation of none other than Hirotoshi Honda, the son of Soichiro Honda, the founder of the brand. 2. Mazda Eunos Cosmo HB (1981). This model, already in 1981, had a touch screen to control the climate control, telephone, a CD player and the first navigation system incorporated into a production car. 3. Mazda R360 (1960). The R360 was one of the first "Kei cars", those mini-cars that allowed Japan to motorize in the 1960s of the last century. 4. Mazda MX6 GE (1991). Everyone knows the MX5! But how many know the MX6? When the MX is followed by the number 6 instead of the 5, things change. 5. Mitsubishi FTO GPX (1994). Honestly, this car was a hit when it arrived in 1994. I don't think it's particularly pretty. But it won the award for best Japanese car of the year. 6. Mitsubishi Starion (1988). Just as the twilight of the legendary Japanese sports cars was beginning, Mitsubishi gave us the Starion, which I would simply define as a car "with character." 7. Nissan March Super Turbo (1989). Another sporty "Kei Car", but with a peculiarity: Its 0.9-liter engine had a supercharger and a turbo. Thanks to that, it not only achieved 108 hp, but also a very full power curve. 8. Nissan Pulsar VZ-R N1 (1997). This model, as far as I know, was not sold in Spain, and if it was, it was very sparingly. It was the “beast” version of the Pulsar, with its four-cylinder, 1.6-litre engine and 190 or 200 hp, depending on the market. 9. Nissan Silvia S15 (1999). In the early 2000s and later years, the Japanese offered cars in their domestic market that had either disappeared from Europe or never arrived here. Like the 7th Generation Silvia, which was only manufactured with right-hand drive. 10. Subaru SVX (1991). We have talked about this car on other occasions and it is not so unknown, because it was sold in Spain, in fact, I was able to test it and more than once. One of its outstanding features is that it is a design by none other than Giugiaro. 11. Subaru VIVIO RX-R (1997). Another of the “Kei cars” with a boost that has appeared in the “Gran Turismo” game, specifically in “GT2”. The funniest thing about this car is its name, since VIVIO comes from converting the digits of the displacement of its small 660 cm3 engine into Roman numerals: VI-VI-O. 12. Suzuki Cappuccino (1991). In Spain, when the name Suzuki is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is a motorcycle, the Jimny or at most the Swift. But nobody remembers this small convertible with the name of an Italian coffee: Cappuccino. 12+1. Toyota Sprinter Trueno (1983). I knew this car because an American friend of a friend of mine, a US soldier, had it. It really is a sporty Corolla, but with a very special line and engines of up to 1.6 liters and 130 HP that went very well and lasted forever. And of course, rear-wheel drive. Conclusion. Today we are “culture vultures” and the conclusion is not going to be given by me, but by the RAE itself, which defines prolific as: “that reproduces or is capable of reproducing itself in abundance”. And in reference to an artist: “Creator of many works”. And at my own risk, I define it in reference to a manufacturer: “That makes many and very different cars”. As car of the day I am going to choose a very little known car: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Wagon version? I love this car! With all the good things of the Lancer Evolution, but with a practical, different and striking body. A 280 HP station wagon and all-wheel drive… a family car for parents in a hurry.
