Hello dear railway enthusiasts, I would like to present to you my photos from 11 years ago, this time again on the subject of railway traffic around my home town of Gotha. In November and December 2002 I was lying in wait again so that I could photograph various trains. While waiting for the PbZ and IC I was surprised by some of the services, such as the 232 with its empty military train near Cobstädt. Likewise, some Interregios were hauled by 103s, although the colorful image of some trains suggests the imminent end of the IR train category. If you look closely you can see both an Interregio carriage in traffic red for its future use in local transport and some Bm235s - these in the IR to/from Weimar. In freight transport there were numerous 155s, also in oriental red. Late one afternoon (on November 24th 2002) an RE from Göttingen surprised everyone with its delay of around half an hour. That spoke strongly in favor of a 612 replacement set with 219 and push-pull train, and that was the case! That's why I'm showing you quite dark photos; at the scheduled time, a little more would have been visible. But since the 219 was rarely used on this route, I was very happy about it! On December 21 and 22, 2002, I was able to photograph the Christmas Market Express, which is still running and also runs from Göttingen to Erfurt and back. Here, too, a 219 with push-pull train was used, which I was able to photograph in Gotha East and on the bypass curve during the day. I positioned myself in Gotha East for the return journey, since the lighting there was reasonably usable in the dark. Please also pay attention to the appearance of the long-distance trains. The difference between the colorful IR and the white IC trains after the timetable change is immediately noticeable. The PbZ in Gotha with the ornith red 110 includes two exotic colors: the DB night train carriage in blue/beige (with lettering!) and the real silver one. I was just as pleased with the blue/beige 140 with its grain train, all in all I can be satisfied with the varied photos from that time. Hope you like it! LG Torsten
