A century of life: The story of barba Kostas from Fterolaka In the green Evrytania next to the peaceful lake of Kremastos, we met Mr. Kostas, a century-old grandfather full of life and history. Mr. Kostas, born in 1925, lived a century full of difficulties, joys and memories. His childhood was poor. Clothes were made at home and food came from their garden and animals. Mr. Kostas vividly remembers the Civil War, a dark period that marked Greece. As a child, he found himself carrying ammunition for the rebels, an experience that deeply scarred him. He believes that the Civil War is the reason why Greece has difficulty developing. Despite the difficulties, Mr. Kostas found joy in life. He remembers with nostalgia the first time he saw a car at 18, his years in the army, his marriage and the family he raised. Animal husbandry, and especially sheep, was his great love. The moments of shelling corn, full of songs and laughter, are etched in his memory. At 100 years old, Mr. Kostas remains optimistic and active. He watches his diet, avoids drugs and dances at festivals. He believes that Greece is currently at its best and wishes to be remembered as a good person, while for Mr. Kostas, health is the greatest wealth. He wishes his children and grandchildren to live with love and unity. He is not afraid of death and, despite the difficulties, he is happy with his life. The story of Mr. Kostas is a life story, full of strength, optimism and love.
