Hello! You have probably already heard of the 1.2 PureTech engine from PSA. This is a very common engine under the hood of many of the group's vehicles, which we found from 2012. This 1.2 PureTech, internal code EB2, which can also be found under the name VTi or e-THP, is a 3-cylinder, 12-valve gasoline engine with direct injection, naturally aspirated or turbocharged. It has not escaped the downsizing trend, that is to say a reduction in displacement for an equivalent power, with an output that can approach 130 horsepower per liter on the most powerful version, with 155 horsepower. The EB2 engine is a block for which the PSA group has invested a lot and which has made the engineers' neurons work a lot to develop an efficient engine that is in principle fuel-efficient. However, this 3-cylinder has been talked about, and not for good reasons: it has problems that can cost a fortune to repair. Recently, a class action was even launched against PSA because of these problems. But what are these problems that have given the 1.2 PureTech such a bad reputation in recent years? This is what we will see in this video.
