About :

Recording of a journey in a double-decker bus in Berlin from S Teltow Stadt to Hertzallee. The journey is almost the same as the route here, with only small deviations in Teltow. 14 minutes late at a slightly higher speed of 16.16 km/h. In the end, 3.770 km are missing from the end point. That makes 32 minutes more travel time, which means we are talking about 35.55% travel time overrun compared to the entire journey. As on the outward journey, my driving style could still be improved. Slow down and speculate on red lights. There are traffic light systems for buses in some parts of Berlin, but on this trip I noticed little to nothing of them. Why not? I have no background knowledge on that either. In my area of activity around Hanover, this has been the case for a long time, even in places with 42,000 inhabitants. So, having now arrived at the end point 32 minutes late, the connecting journey has certainly already been cancelled. How much would it cost to keep one or more drivers and buses on standby? The joker would be to have a break from driving now, or even better, in the middle of the next trip. Ergo, the (next trip) is already cancelled before I arrive. The toilet is a must at this moment anyway, regardless of whether it is necessary or not. Another highlight would be when the replacement is waiting on the way and the bus does not come. The modern bus driver nowadays has a private cell phone (work cell phone???, not affordable) and is therefore always reachable. This makes the job particularly appealing and desirable. All in all, it was always worth it for me. Paid working time for waiting, being able to work on time again at some point in the shift plan, or finishing work early. As I always heard during working hours, the client does not pay for driving services not provided, regardless of the driving orders, the company and where it is located. If we do the math, and the subway and tram are also included, you have to be able to afford it. That's why it's completely pointless to blame a driver (bus, tram, subway, truck, I can't name them all) for being late. The driver is the victim of unacceptable time pressure, mismanagement, constant cuts in whatever form (10 cents here, 10 cents there, new 30 km/h zones without adjustment of travel times, etc.). This means that the last opportunities to reduce delays are gone. The 30 km/h zones tend to appear where you could make up some time on 50 km/h roads. I hope that in this and the previous video I can promote some understanding and the circumstances that a bus driver has to deal with. Nothing is questioned about these delays anymore, because every other driver in the same area has them too. That's why it doesn't matter how defensively you drive. And don't forget that if the driver puts his driver card in the tachograph, he basically has one foot in front of the judge! Equipment used: Sony FDR AX 53 Cullmann Clamp Magic
