The name of Jean-Baptiste Lully is inseparable from that of Louis XIV. During our walks in Versailles, it is therefore impossible not to pay homage to the man who made the Sun King vibrate to the sound of his ballets, lyrical tragedies and motets. It is the latter that interest us here, since Les Epopées are giving us the pleasure of performing three of them. Under the direction of Stéphane Fuget, Les Epopées perform three great motets by Jean-Baptiste Lully: Dies Irae, De profondis and O Lachrymae fideles. A vibrant programme that is perfectly suited to the setting of this concert, the royal chapel of the Château de Versailles. The music of Jean-Baptiste Lully accompanied life in Versailles on many occasions, both the most festive and the most solemn. Thus, the Dies Irae and the De profondis were played in 1683 at the funeral of Maria Theresa of Austria, the wife of Louis XIV. As a counterpoint to this gravity, O Lachrymae fideles invites you to dance. Together, these three works highlight the genius of one of the greatest Baroque composers. Program: Jean-Baptiste Lully - Dies Irae Jean-Baptiste Lully - O Lachrymae fideles Jean-Baptiste Lully - De Profundis ____________ [AVAILABLE UNTIL 10/12/2025] More concerts on our website : https://www.arteconcert.com You can also find us on : Facebook : / arteconcert Twitter : / arteconcertfr Instagram FR : / arteconcertfr Instagram DE : / arteconcertde
